A lake town at 2,000 meters: boats, a promenade and shops, and lots of Indian tourists. It's on the way from Kathgodam, so the easiest thing is to stop there on your way up.

- On your way to usComing up by taxi from Kathgodam? Ask to stop in Nainital. It adds about an hour.
- From the Chabad HouseA round-trip taxi, a full day.
Good to know
- Very crowded on weekends and in May–June, with traffic jams on the way.
- The town has ATMs and shops, good for errands before you head up.
- Going on to Kasar? Leave Nainital by midday, so you arrive in daylight.
